Kipper Registration
With the sailing season about to start thoughts turn
to getting our younger sailors afloat. The Club has run a very successful youth
programme for a number of years and we intend to do the same again this year.
Kippers is for the 7 to 12 year olds who want to start learning how to sail.
The club has a fleet of 19 Oppies and 5 Jaffa safety boats so
that those who just want to see what sailing is all about can come and have a go
without the outlay of buying a boat and in the knowledge that safety cover is
provided. Following the success of 2007 we now have a number of young sailors who
are getting quite proficient. To encourage this group we are running the Kipper
sessions on different days to the Cadets this year – this should reduce congestion
for all on the pontoon and means that the RIBS can be used to take the more
experienced Kippers out of the river.
With the more experienced ones away from the beginners we are
hope to be able to provide more relevant help and encouragement. As always much will
depend on the parents that come forward to help.
Kipper registration will take place in Shore House at 9.30a.m.
on Sunday, 30th March 2008 – immediately after the presentation of a new
trailer from Esso. This is your chance to come along and find out more.
